Kinugawa Onsen Trip (1)

Susie was very shocked to meet my aunt, who looks just a little over 40s. This small sushi shop made the viniger rice with the special type of red rice wine vinigar, the rice was not purely white.

I have never been a big fan of sushi. I think, good food is the product of mysterious concoction of temperature to mouth+stomach, smell to nose and taste to touge. This creates complexities and layers. Of course perhaps I am biased since I am raised with Chinese foods. And I do agree certain seafoods are doomed to have as sashimi, which the only and ultimate way to enjoy the freshness.

The trip was rushed into. I was planning a one day trip so that Auntie Feng can hang out with her friend, Auntie May, on one of the weekend days, however, change of the plan in the last minute. I found the onsen hotel stay in a good price, and I also found out it is cheaper to find the 3rd person to share the room with, therefore, I convinced Susie to join us despite the fact that she hasn't really settled in her service apartment.

I also researched knowing that there is this world heritage train pass, which includes the free local bus pass, unlimited rides between Kinugawa and Nikko, and the tickets to Toshugu (the Tokagawa shogan built the huge temples in 17th century, um, they must had used up a lot of trees).

We had lunch in Tsukiji fish market, then traveled to Asakusa Tobu line travel agency to pick up our hotel vourchor. The travel agent lady was not very fluent in English, it took a while to explain that we want to buy the world heritage pass and I explained the pass is only valid for foreigner. "Do you need to have a look of our passports?" "No, I can see", she replied.
